ICRISAT will implement its first activity under the CGIAR Capacity Sharing Accelerator through a training programme on Agroecological and Landscape-Based Natural Resource Management, taking place from 28 to 31 July 2026 in Arba Minch, Ethiopia. The programme will bring together around 25 participants from Ethiopia’s agricultural research, extension and natural-resource management institutions. It is being delivered in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the CGIAR Multifunctional Landscapes Science Program. Three ICAR scientists will join ICRISAT experts as resource persons, supporting knowledge exchange between Indian and Ethiopian institutions. The activity reflects CapSha’s emphasis on South–South cooperation and partnerships that strengthen the capabilities of national agricultural research institutions. Participants will explore practical approaches to addressing land degradation, water scarcity, climate risks and low agricultural productivity. The course covers agroecology, soil and water conservation, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, landscape planning, GIS and remote sensing, climate change, ecosystem services, and approaches for scaling sustainable land management. The programme will combine expert-led lectures, interactive discussions, practical exercises, case studies and peer learning. It will also examine how scientific evidence can inform planning, policy, decision-making and the scaling of sustainable landscape-management practices. Senior representatives from the Multifunctional Landscapes Science Program and ICRISAT are expected to join the inaugural session virtually, while the CapSha Director will participate.
